Dip012 Implementing Hoshin Kanri
Hoshin Kanri, a Japanese term that has no direct English Language equivalent is by far the most powerful and effective means of creating a World beating Management system ever conceived.
Hoshin Kanri was not the brainchild of any specific individual but evolved rapidly in the early 1960s following the articulation of a vision by Professor Kaoru Ishikawa.
Professor Ishikawa stated that the essence of Japanese Total Quality Control was to create an organisation which captured the brainpower and job knowledge of every individual in working towards making that company the best in its business.
However it was quickly seen that whilst this was a laudible objective, as it stood, it lacked direction. This is still the problem with TQM in the West today. It is the same for so called Six Sigma programmes, Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9000 based and all of the others. They may all be good in their own way but even the best of them could be described as high powered boats but lacking a rudder they are not going anywhere.

This Unit being the last in the Diploma/Higher Diploma series of Units is different in format from the others.
It follows on naturally from Unit Dip011 Facilitating, Coaching and Mentoring for Quality as it requires the skills acquired in that Unit.
In this Unit, the Student may if the organisation wishes, actually implement Hoshin Kanri as they learn.
