CQI Diploma in Quality Management

Important notice:

In 2015 the CQI announced that they would no longer register students for that qualification and that they were ceasing their Ofqual approval.

As a consequence, there was no Quality based qualification that would enable a student to progress to a higher level degree unless of course he/she had already acquired a Bachelor's Degree in something else. As DHI had originally been contracted by the CQI to create its Diploma, we were in a position to create our own - the Diploma in Quality Leadership which we have aligned to the CQI competency requirements. On completion of the Diploma you may apply for Chartered Quality Professional Status.

A blended course with tutor support and small work groups. You will design, plan and implement breakthrough performance improvement systems and learn how integrate these into your organisation. Learning the skills and knowledge to enable you to influence and drive a quality culture, you will ultimately inspire your team to create and deliver quality excellence.



Quality leadership through a new lens

The quality profession is at a watershed. The role of the Quality Professional has never before been so blurred. How ready are you to embrace the future? Where do you need to grow personally to become a leader in quality?

The Diploma in Quality Leadership embraces the competencies which are needed to succeed in this new, challenging environment. To be truly effective in any organisation, strengths in the following key attributes are essential.

The Steward

Firstly there are the technical skills: the quality tools and methods and knowing where and when to deploy them. For example, the technician will be able to tie Six Sigma training specifically to strategic goals and can make the connection between quality practices, customer needs and ultimately revenue generation. However, there is the challenge to get beyond the controlling tendencies and become engaged in what is strategically important.

The Strategist

The strategist designs the system, he/she sees quality as both art and science, he/she sees processes as adaptive, building in flexibility based on ever changing marketing conditions. He/she has a strong grasp of compliance and balances profitability and compliance. The challenge for the strategist is managing the perception of ‘quality’ within the boardroom.

The Leader

An agent for change the leader is able to influence the board, motivate employees and organisational culture. If the strategist is responsible for making strategic recommendations, the leader is responsible for leading the change. What the strategist is to the head the leader is the heart. He/she is responsible for motivating and inspiring. What the steward and strategist are to overt processes the leader is to covert ‘under the table’ systems. With strong self and organisation awareness, he/she understands organisational dynamics and overcoming change resistance. The quality leader is responsible for moving quality from the back end of managing production processes to the front end of understanding the customer processes.

Diploma in Quality Leadership

The Diploma will give you all the specific quality related competencies (steward, strategist and leader) and generic management skills. Through the 9 unit course you will learn the tools and methods and where and when to deploy them. You will develop strategic skills and become systems thinker, honing skills in organisational design and Hoshin Kanri. You will develop strong skills in operational excellence: lean six sigma, programme management and facilitation as well as risk management skills. Finally, you will learn more about yourself as a leader, the beliefs you operate from and how they impact performance and effectiveness. From the outset you will start to build a 9 unit project that, when completed, will become a custom built implementation plan for your organisation. This will become evidence of achievement if planning to progress to higher level qualifications.

CQI Chartered Quality Professional

The CQI Competency Framework is core to the CQI Chartered Membership process.  DHI have aligned the Diploma and Higher Diploma with the requirements of Chartered Membership (CQP MCQI). 

New students can apply for Foundation level membership of the CQI and upgrade to Practitioner level membership on completion of unit 5, with no application fee, just the annual membership fee. DHI have aligned our method of assignment evaluation to the CQI competency requirements so on completion of the Diploma you may apply for Chartered Quality Professional Status.

Qualifications

Following completion of our Diploma in Quality Leadership, the student can upgrade to Higher Diploma in Quality Leadership course which, together with the journey into Coaching will ensure you continue to progress your career with an internationally recognised qualification by allowing you to develop not only your knowledge and skills but those of your work colleagues also.  This course will help you to become a recognised quality professional and an Associate of DHI enabling you to use DHI materials in your own organisation.
